- What do you think are the main causes of feelings of inferiority and insecurity?
- Where did this intense focus on the “need” for “self-esteem” come from?
- What from our text would suggest that Peter needed more self-esteem or self- confidence? What did he need instead?
- Why was it necessary that God would “strike the Shepherd”?
- Why is it true that no one ever has or ever could suffer as much as Jesus? What encouragement do you personally take from this truth? Anything you might want to say to Jesus about this fact?
- In what way(s) did Jesus go to the cross alone? Why do you think this was necessary?
- Explain: “The Lord never requires us to trust him for no good reason.” What are the main reasons you trust Jesus?
- Why do you think unbelievers have a hard time getting beyond his resurrection?
- Why do you think Jesus was so detailed in his description to Peter of his denial? How might this have been of benefit to Peter?
- What is included in the “nothing” of John 15:5? What does it mean to abide in Jesus? Are you abiding in Jesus? What evidence demonstrates this?
