III. WE MUST PRAY AND TRUST JESUS.

- What are some of your hopes for the new year? Is it your practice to make resolutions? Do you think this practice is wise or not? Explain.
- What did Jesus tell those who cared about the demon possessed boy? What kinds of things do you need to “bring to him”?
- What were the scribes arguing with Jesus’ disciples about?
- What two serious deficiencies are event in the scribes?
- Who are the scoffers today? What influence do you think they have in the world? What influence do they have over professing Christians?
- What does contra mudum mean? How is contra mundum pro mundo an improvement? Why must we be against the world if we would seek to help the world?
- What in the text tells us that even the father of this boy was a part of that “faithless generation”? What was his plea to Jesus?
- The “prosperity teachers” today who are false teachers often cite verse 23: “All things are possible for one who believes.” In what way are they misusing this text, suggesting a false meaning to it?
- What error do we make when we put our faith in our faith?
- What is the greater miracle than all of the healing/deliverance miracles Jesus performed on earth?
- Why do you think the disciples could not cast out this evil spirit?
