TRUE HEALING IN JESUS
(Mark 5:21-34)
INTRODUCTION: We need to face up to the fact that life is difficult. Applications:
I. WE MUST EMBRACE THE HEALING JESUS OFFERS.
II. WE MUST CARE FOR THE BODY JESUS PROVIDES.
III. WE MUST OFFER TO GOD THE TROUBLES JESUS ORDAINS.
Questions for Family Review/Discussion:
- What are some of the more difficult struggles you have faced in life?
- How does God say we are to approach “trials of various kinds”? Why? (James 1:2ff)
- What hopeless situations confronted Jesus in Mark 4 and 5?
- What complication factors combined to make this woman’s situation both miserable and hopeless?
- What superstitious element was mixed with this woman’s faith in Jesus?
- Do you think Jesus knowingly, deliberately healed this woman, or did God do so without his immediate knowledge? Why or why not?
- Why do you think this woman was so afraid to speak to Jesus?
- What natural question arises from the truth that Jesus healed this woman? What answer is given by the prosperity teachers today? What is their error?
- What better “healing” does Jesus offer to all? Why should we seek this instead?
- Why has God given us bodies? What might you need to do to better care for the body he has entrusted to you?
- Why is it important that we offer our troubles and weaknesses to God? What will happen when we do?
