(Mark 4:10-20)

 INTRODUCTION: Why don’t people believe? How can we grow in our     belief?

I. WE MUST LOVE AND BELIEVE THE WORD.

II. WE MUST EXPECT TROUBLE.

III. WE MUST SEEK HELP IN WORLDLY CARES.

IV. WE MUST BEWARE DECEITFUL DESIRES.

V. WE MUST PRESS ON TO FRUITFULNESS.

Questions for Family Review/Discussion:

  1. Do you know someone who has left the faith? Why do you think they did so?
  2. In your own words, why do you believe on Christ? What convinces you?
  3. What is the main purpose of this parable of Jesus?
  4. Why do you think it is so important to give our rapt attention and love to the Word of God? How can we become more attentive?
  5. All people endure troubles. Why might trouble cause some to doubt God?
  6. Name some worldly cares that some struggle with. What are some worldly cares that bother you the most?
  7. What have you found most helpful in the worldly cares that plague you? How can you help others who are plagued with worldly cares?
  8. Why are riches “deceitful”? What desires for other things distract you?
  9. What kind of “fruit” is in view in verse 20? Why does this fruit matter?
  10. If we are not saved by our good works, then what part do they play in our lives?
  11. What fruit do you think is most missing in our culture today? What would be the impact of more fruitfulness among believers?
  12. What personal benefits do God’s people enjoy from this fruitfulness?
