(Mark 12:18-27)

INTRODUCTION: The Sadducees take a crack at exposing Jesus.

II. WE WILL KNOW AND LOVE WITH DEEPER INTIMACY.

III. WE WILL NEVER AGAIN FACE DEATH.

  1. Have you been tripped up by a tricky question? Tell about it.
  2. Who were the Sadducees? What were their core beliefs? Why did they want to expose Jesus?
  3. What was potentially difficult to explain from the story they related to Jesus?
  4. Do you think that we will know one another in heaven? What biblical evidence do you have for this important, often-asked question?
  5. Why was it important the Jesus quoted from Exodus in answering the Sadducees’ question? How does Jesus’ response prove the resurrection?
  6. What do many find troubling about Jesus’ statement in verse 25?
  7. What is it about heaven that will be even better than the intimacy of marriage on earth?
  8. How can we be sure that we will still be male or female in heaven? How will this be improved?
  9. What also is true of the angels that is not true of us? How will this be rectified in heaven?
  10. The Sadducees knew neither the Scriptures nor the power of God. How are these related? These two truths apply even to many professing Christians of our day. Name some elements of the impact of this. How can this situation be reversed?
  11. What humorous note can be anticipated from this encounter with the Sadducees? How much do you celebrate and hope in this great truth?
  12. What is your main take-away from this story? Why?
