- Have you ever been IN a parade? What did you like and dislike about it?
- What advantages can you see in focusing on Jesus’ life events at times other than their annual celebration (Christmas, Palm Sunday, Easter)?
- What negative factors would surely result from Jesus entering Jerusalem during a high festival as he did?
- Jesus had tried to carefully keep the “messianic secret” regarding his true identity. Why did he now go public with the truth? What does this tell us about Christian ministry in the present age?
- What was the most basic error of the people of the Jews regarding the hope of the coming Messiah? Where did this error come from? Why was it hard for them to abandon? What warning does this give to us? Regarding false views of the Christian faith?
- Why was it necessary for Jesus to ride in on a colt that had never been ridden? What mount did victorious kings usually ride upon? Why did Jesus choose to enter the royal city on a donkey? What seeds of doubt might this have planted in the minds of the people?
- From what did Jesus come to save us?
- Why was it important that Jesus was condemned not only by Jewish authorities, but by the governor from Rome?
- What was the significance of Jesus entering the temple that day?
