Questions for Family Review/Discussion:

  1. What kinds of things pique your interest and make you enthused?
  2. What do you think accounts for the frequent apathy among church members?
  3. Mark’s gospel evidences zero apathy. Why do you think this is so?
  4. What was so astonishing about Jesus’ teaching? What impact did it have on those who heard him?
  5. When was the last time that you were alarmed by God’s Word? What other kinds of deep impact does God’s Word make upon his people? What do you think would make Scripture more impactful on your life?
  6. Do you think demon possession occurs today? Why do you think there was so little mention of it in the Old Testament and in the age after the apostles?
  7. Why do you think people become so interested and engrossed in the subject of demonic possession? Give as many reasons as you can.
  8. What should be our main takeaway from the story of the man with the unclean spirit? How was Jesus’ exorcism different from the forms of exorcism practiced by Christians today? What does this tell us about Jesus? Why is this so exciting?
  9. What kinds of bondage hold people today? What part do you think Satan or demons may play in this bondage? How does God set people free from this bondage? Is it instantaneous? Explain your answer.
  10. The people said that Jesus’ teaching was “with authority”? What does this mean? When do you sense this authority? How does it impact you?
