INTRODUCTION: Jesus’ announcement shocked his disciples.
I. JESUS IS KIND TO THE WEAK.
II. JESUS IS KIND TO HIS ENEMIES.
III. JESUS IS KIND TO ALL HIS CHOSEN.
Questions for Family Review/Discussion:
- Which holiday do you like more: Christmas or Easter? Why?
- Why did Jesus keep the location of the upper room secret to the end?
- Why did all of the twelve respond “Is it I?” to Jesus’ announcement of betrayal? What were they revealing about themselves?
- Why did Jesus warn them of his impending betrayal?
- What warnings from God do we routinely ignore?
- For what possible reason have some attempted to “rehabilitate” Judas and excuse his most heinous and worst of all crimes?
- What statement of Jesus did Judas probably take to heart that the rest of the disciples would not? What part did he not believe?
- In what way did Jesus show kindness even to Judas in the upper room? What does this tell us about our response to our enemies? What “enemies” of your own can you demonstrate a similar kindness to?
- What opportunities did Jesus have to avoid the cross? Why did he reject all of these escapes? What assurance does this give you in times of trouble?
- Who do you know that might need to hear about the kindness of Christ? What are some ways you might remind them of this abiding hope?
