INTRODUCTION: What is the true test of a follower of Jesus?
I. WE MUST ACCEPT GOD’S MEANS OF ENDORSEMENT.
II. WE MUST HOPE IN GOD’S ENDORSED.
III. WE MUST LEAN FULLY ON GOD’S ENDORSED.
Questions for Family Review/Discussion:
- Which do you think is more likely: aliens have visited our planet, or Bigfoot roams the earth? Explain your choice.
- When did God become more than just a word to you? How do you know God is there? Do you think there is enough evidence that all should believe?
- Why did Jesus refuse the demand for a sign from heaven? What does this tell us about similar demands for proof today?
- Why do you think Jesus “sighed deeply in his spirit”? Why is this a terrifying truth!
- What signs should we look to in order to bolster our faith?
- What were Jesus’ disciples to “understand”? (vs. 21) Why do you think they were so slow to believe? What is the main reason you also are slow to believe today?
- What is an “enacted parable”? What was unique about Jesus’ healing of this blind man? What truth was it intended to illustrate?
- Why is the story of the two-stage healing from blindness such good news to us today? What truth(s) do you think you might not be seeing?
- Do you think it somehow wrong or morbid for Christians to think often about heaven? Can one think too much about the life to come? Why or why not?
