Questions for Family Review/Discussion:

  1. Who are the beloved unbelievers in your life? How do we maintain hope?
  2. What do you know about this Herod (Antipas)?
  3. What was unlawful about Herod’s marriage to Herodias?
  4. Do you believe that a life of unfettered sin and devotion to self is unsatisfying? Why or why not? What is unsatisfying about sin?
  5. Why was Herod so eager to listen to John preach? How does this instill hope for your beloved unbelievers?
  6. Describe the various forms of captivity that held Herod in bondage. Think about your beloved unbeliever: What forms of captivity bind them?
  7. Agree or disagree: “There are no happy unrepentant sinners.” Explain your answer.
  8. Why is it unnecessary to pray that unbelievers might be miserable? For what, then, should we pray?
  9. Why was Herod so convinced that Jesus was the resurrected John?
  10. What are “techniques of sin management”? Why are they so dangerous?
  11. What are our great allies when it comes to the salvation of our beloved unbelievers? What can we do to assist them?
