Questions for Family Review/Discussion:

  1. What sentence would you use to sum up the Christian faith?
  2. In what ways are the gospels not like the biographies written today?
  3. What are some of the Old Testament promises concerning the coming of Christ? Name as many as you can. How does this demonstrate that God keeps his promises? What promises of God are you relying on?
  4. Why did the Jewish leaders want to avoid arresting and killing Jesus during the Passover Festival? Why did God overrule them?
  5. Why do you think trust is so hard to restore when it has been violated? Why is this especially hard in marriage? What helps to restore trust?
  6. The Lord has an unblemished track record of faithfulness. Can you think of a time when you thought that God had let you down? What helped you understand this differently?
  7. When did you first become aware of the awfulness of your own sin? Why do you think this truth is difficult for people to own up to?
  8. Why can a person who will not admit to being a sinner not be saved? What is necessary for anyone to be saved?
  9. Who were some of the “wretches” identified in our text? In what way can you see yourself as a sinner like them?
  10. Why is confidence in God’s faithfulness absolutely necessary to live with joyful boldness?
