Questions for Family Review/Discussion:

  1. What are some of the hot topics of debate today? Why do you think these are so widely discussed?
  2. Why is sin so universally tempting? List all of the reasons you can think of.
  3. God is patient with sinners (2 Peter 3:9) but is not tolerant of sinners (2 Peter 3:10). What’s the difference between God’s patience and his tolerance?

  6. If God’s Word permits divorce and remarriage in certain instances, how should Christians respond to those who are legitimately divorced and remarried? Do you think this should prevent a man so remarried from church office? Why or why not?
  7. In the Harvest USA “tree model” what do the various parts represent: seed, soil, roots, trunk, fruit? Why is the kind of “seed” so important? What is the only thing that can make a bad seed good? What does this tell us about the goal and practice of Christian ministry?
  8. What was the detail regarding divorce that the Pharisees asked Jesus about in order to test him?
  9. The people of Jesus’ day were arguing about the details of divorce? What should they have been focusing on instead? What direction does this give to our witness to an angry, hostile, accusing world?
  10. State in your own words the purpose of and benefit of marriage. How does this far exceed anything the world imagines marriage to provide?
