(Mark 4:35-41)

INTRODUCTION: Why did Jesus’ disciples keep being astonished by him?

I. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE HIS IDENTITY.

II. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE HIS WISDOM.

III. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE HIS GLORY.

  1. What things have most surprised you in your life?
  2. Why do you think Jesus’ disciples kept being surprised at his actions?
  3. Why is this miracle something new, more than healing or casting out demons?
  4. In what ways have you found your God to be too small?
  5. How would you answer those who say that Jesus’ miracles in the Bible are irrelevant to them because heal does not heal THEIR sickness, overcome their own problems, or calm their own storms?
  6. Jesus calm the storm, but he could have prevented it in the first place. What does this tell us about the problems he allows us to struggle with?
  7. What details of this story suggest an eyewitness account? What does the eyewitness report in verse 41?
  8. Why were they “mega frightened” as the “mega calm”?
  9. What specifically are we to “enjoy…forever” about God?
  10. What aspects of God’s glory should cause us to live in wonder continually?
  11. What has interfered with wonder at God’s grace to you? What will restore this worshipful wonder in the living God?
