CONQUERED FOR GOOD

(Mark 4:21-34)

 INTRODUCTION: Christ conquers people to rescue and bless them.

I. WE MUST RECOGNIZE THE URGENCY OF HIS KINGSHIP.

II. WE MUST REALIZE THE MYSTERY OF HIS KINGSHIP.

III. WE MUST REST IN THE CERTAINTY OF HIS KINGSHIP.

Questions for Family Review/Discussion:

  1. Can you think of a time when you meant to help others but they misunderstood?
  2. If Jesus only wants to rescue and bless us, why do so many resist him?
  3. What are some of the kinds of misery that the sinner routinely experiences?
  4. What is a parable? Why did Jesus speak in parables? (three reasons)
  5. What makes Jesus so wonderful? (Give as many reasons as you can.)
  6. What is the relationship between the “basket” (vs. 21) and the “measure” (vs. 24) What happens to us when we neglect, obscure, minimize, or deny Jesus?
  7. What are the “ordinary means of grace”? Why do you think God gave us these tools for our work? Why can we rely upon these admittedly weak means?
  8. What can we expect to happen if we neglect the ordinary means of grace and try to do God’s work with more loud and flashy means? What kinds of loud and flashy means are churches using today?
  9. What is the main point of the parable of the mustard seed?
  10. Though unbelievers today would try to convince us that the church is in decline, what signs do we see of the church’s continual growth?
  11. Why should we always be encouraged with regards to the church? What is the true basis of our hope?
